Vascular Sonographer (PRN)

PURPOSE OF POSITION:

The Vascular Technologist will prepare and perform vascular examinations on patients and prepare preliminary reports on dedicated software.

JOB DESCRIPTION:

• Uses ultrasound equipment to direct high-frequency sound waves to a prescribed area of the patient's body and capture quality images that describe the composition, shape and motion of tissues, organs, vessels and pathology.
• Perform vascular diagnostic studies including peripheral venous, peripheral arterial and visceral, cerebrovascular.
• Summarizes, documents, verifies and presents images, findings, calculations and measurements to physicians for diagnoses.
• Adheres to ultrasonic diagnostic procedures, precautions and standards.
• Provides direct patient care, including assessing patient condition and ability to cooperate.
• Prepares and positions patients for procedures and completes exam in a timely manner.
• Maintains accurate records, by ensuring the integrity of patient medical images and data while adhering to Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA) and other patient confidentiality guidelines and regulations.
• Prepares rooms and patients for subsequent ultrasound procedures.
• Verifies operational status of equipment prior to daily utilization.
• Performs other job-related duties as assigned.

• An Associates Degree in Diagnostic Sonography from an accredited college.
• Registered Vascular Technologist (RVT) certified. ARDMS certification required.
• 2+ years of experience in diagnostic ultrasound and/or vascular ultrasound experience in a hospital setting.
• Current certification in BLS.
