This position provides high-level mechanical skills. The skill set required for this position allows it to work independently on all mechanical components, equipment and systems in very complex steam and electric generating facilities to ensure that they operate safely and reliably and allows it to work independently on less complicated equipment and systems with minimal instruction and direction. This position is responsible for preventive, predictive, corrective maintenance and repairs of two (2) circulating fluidized bed boilers and three (3) natural gas/oil package boilers and all associated plant auxiliary equipment. The auxiliary equipment consists of steam turbine generator, fans, pumps, piping systems, valves, control valves, tanks, mills, steam traps, cooling towers, condensers, fluid drives, heat exchangers, air compressors, water treatment systems, bag houses, etc. Repairs and maintenance are performed on the following boiler components: boiler tubes, super-heater sections, economizers, air heaters, cyclones, boiler refractory, loop seals and combustion chambers. This requires an understanding of said systems, equipment and components. The maintenance practices will ensure safe, reliable and efficient operation of this multi-million-dollar facility. This position works with minimal direction or independently on the more complex equipment and systems. This position is expected to occasionally act as a crew leader and provide assignments to lesser skilled mechanics.
