Position Highlights |
The University of Arizona seeks individuals to teach online (asynchronous) courses in academic writing for undergraduate students in global dual-degree programs at universities in China, Kazakhstan, and Mexico during Spring semester 2025. We seek instructors with a strong background in teaching college-level writing to English as an additional language (EAL) users in an online environment. The ideal candidates will have knowledge and experience in second language writing, genre-based instruction, content-based instruction, online writing instruction, and in teaching in international and cross-cultural contexts. Instructors will teach up to four Foundations Writing courses using pre-designed courses taught through the university's learning management system. They will participate in pre-course orientation sessions and receive ongoing teacher support. Compensation includes an annual salary of $4,500 per course. FTE will be determined on course work load. Your teaching load may make you eligible for benefits if you work a .50 FTE or greater for 90 days or longer. As courses and loads are determined, we will notify employees should they gain benefits eligibility status. Candidates working anywhere in the U.S. may be considered for a remote assignment. If you are selected for this position and are employed to work remotely from outside of Arizona, your overtime exemption status will depend on the laws of the state where you perform your work. For employees working outside of Arizona, you may be hired as an hourly employee in accordance with state laws, and your position title would be "Part-Time Faculty" instead of "Adjunct Lecturer" in accordance with university practices. These changes would not affect the position duties as outlined. A comparable hourly rate for this position is $21.00 per hour. The University of Arizona has been recognized for our innovative work-life programs. For more information about working at the University of Arizona and relocations services, please click here. |
