Position Summary |
Lineberger Comprehensive Cancer Center (
LCCC) has created a Research Development Office that works with over 100 Principal Investigators (PIs) to submit a variety of research proposals including federal, foundation, and private industry sponsors. The Business Officer 2 is responsible for submitting grant applications ensuring all sponsor guidelines and university requirements are met. They will work with research faculty submitting grants to a wide variety of sponsors inclusive of
NCI,
DOD, and foundations. The Business Officer 2 will work with more complex applications such as
NCI P01 and
SPORE mechanisms,
ARPA-H proposals, etc. They will coordinate and communicate with research team members (e.g., faculty principal investigators and co-investigators, project managers, departmental administrators and business officers in Schools of Medicine, Pharmacy, Public Health, Nursing, and the College of Arts and Sciences, and counterparts at collaborating institutions), institutional research administrators (Office of Sponsored Programs, Sponsored Programs Office), and sponsors. The Business Officer 2 will have a keen understanding of University, State, and departmental business rule and practices, cost sharing, effort reporting. They will have expertise in interpreting and implementing sponsor guidelines. This position will lead collaboration efforts in pre- and post-award administration and asked to present on pre-award policies and procedures to external audiences. |
Minimum Education and Experience Requirements |
Mid-career with Masters and 1-2 years' experience; or Bachelors and 2-4 years' experience. |
Required Qualifications, Competencies, and Experience |
Experience with
NCI-sponsored Cancer Center Support Grant, Specialized Programs of Research, Excellence, Program Project Grants, Training Grants and similar complex mechanisms. |
Preferred Qualifications, Competencies, and Experience |
Prior experience managing ongoing Post Award (non-financial) administration activities greater than one renewal cycle.
Direct experience in using grant submission portals including, but not limited to, Cayuse and
ASSIST.
Supervising and/or managing faculty and staff workgroups from internal and external institutions to submit grant proposals.
Experience in pre-award administration of complex multi-component grants. |
