JOB DESCRIPTION AND POSITION REQUIREMENTS:

A part-time Research Technologist position is available in the laboratory of Dr. Patricia Grigson in the Neural and Behavioral Sciences Department at the Penn State College of Medicine in Hershey PA. The lab works on substance abuse and addiction. Dr Grigson is a driving force behind Penn State's annual addiction symposium, which began in 2015 and each year brings together nearly 150 physicians, scientists, students, postdoctoral fellows, directors from treatment centers and community members. The goal is to advance knowledge and retool treatment options so that people with addictions can break a potentially life-ending cycle.

This position involves key research responsibilities such as histological preparations, video scoring, analyzing data sets in statistical programs, assisting with animal surgeries and running various behavioral experiments. Proficiency in basic computer applications (e.g., Microsoft Word, Excel) is essential. The ideal candidate will be eager to learn new techniques, demonstrate responsibility, be self-motivated and conscientious, adaptable, a strong communicator, and possess excellent organizational skills. Additionally, candidates will be expected to collaborate on developing and designing research projects under the guidance of faculty, staff and students.

The anticipated start date for this position is February. Maximum of 24 hours a week.
