Position Summary
The primary location of this position is the main Cullowhee, NC campus.

Western Carolina University seeks a detailed-oriented, adaptable, organized, and enthusiastic professional to serve as the Administrative Support Associate of the Center for Community Engagement & Service Learning ( CCESL). This position will work in tandem with the Center leadership and staff to support and manage community service and engagement activities.

Among the work requirements are:
* tracking all associated budgets and organization of funds
* scheduling and supporting Center meetings, events, and processes
* representing the Center at various on-campus functions
* engaging with and supporting various constituent groups (faculty, staff, community partners, & students)

The Administrative Support Associate will work to support the CCESL in all operations and office functions.

The Center for Community Engagement and Service Learning is housed within Undergraduate Studies, an integral component of the university's focus on the holistic student experience. Undergraduate Studies seeks to improve individual lives and enhance economic and community development in the region, state, and nation through engaged learning opportunities. CCESL manages a comprehensive catalog of programming initiatives focusing on experiential education, civic responsibility, and community engagement, which aims to enhance engaged student learning, facilitate faculty engagement and development, and provide service to communities and community organizations throughout the Western NC region. The Administrative Support Specialist/Operations Coordinator reports to the Director of the Center for Community Engagement and Service Learning. As a staff member of CCESL, the Administrative Support Associate will strive to provide efficient and effective services to students, faculty and staff/administrators of the University, and community partners, while maintaining a positive attitude and cultivating a healthy work environment. This position will function at the Advanced Competency level.

Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities Required for this Position

  • Knowledge of Administrative Practices: Familiarity with office management procedures and technology, budgeting, and financial record-keeping, and data management.

  • Organizational and Time Management Skills: Strong ability to prioritize tasks, manage multiple projects simultaneously, and maintain attention to detail in a fast-paced environment, ensuring efficient support for meetings, events, and daily operations.

  • Interpersonal and Communication Skills: Excellent verbal and written communication abilities to effectively engage with diverse stakeholders, including students, faculty, community partners, and external organizations, fostering positive relationships and collaboration.

  • Adaptability and Problem-Solving Skills: Capacity to adapt to changing priorities and challenges, demonstrating resourcefulness and initiative in addressing issues that arise in support of the Center's mission and operations.
