Die Setter/Flex Technician (First Shift)

As a Die Setter, you will collaborate with the Manufacturing Engineer to ensure efficient production in our injection molding department. Your responsibilities include setting up and changing presses and molds, monitoring process parameters, assisting with training, maintaining safety standards, and serving as a backup for the Manufacturing Engineer. We require candidates with a high school diploma and 1-3 years of experience in a manufacturing environment, preferably in an injection molding facility. PRINCIPLE RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Assist the Manufacturing Engineer with duties including, but not limited to, material handling, mold changes, scrap and stock management, set-up, and production monitoring.
  • Responsible for set up and changeover of presses and molds according to work instructions, including the connections for water, hydraulic, and air lines.
  • Be capable to establish, follow, document, and monitor process parameters, machine controls, molding temperatures, pressure, feeds, speed, time, and limit alarms to ensure repeatable results of press and mold performance to achieve and maintain quality parts and optimize cycle times.
  • Use a crane hoist to perform mold changes and maintenance of molding machines.
  • To fill in for the various machine operator positions for the purpose of covering breaks, absences, vacation days, etc. (Positions including - insert assembly operator, Warp head molding operator, component machine operator, packing and inspection operator, set-up technician, etc.)
  • Assist with the training and monitoring of new machine operators within the injection molding department.
  • Ensure a positive work environment and awareness of company goals and objectives.
  • To help maintain the housekeeping standards set for the injection molding department.
  • To take a team approach to all aspects of the job and be able to communicate necessary information in a professional manner across all positions and shifts within the department.
  • To comply with and assist the Manufacturing Engineer in enforcement/monitoring of all departmental and company safety requirements.
  • To serve as the primary "backup" to the Manufacturing Engineer in the event of absence.
  • All other duties and tasks as assigned by the Manufacturing Engineer or department management.

REQUIREMENTS:

  • High school diploma
  • 1-3 Years of experience in a manufacturing environment, preferably in an injection molding facility, with one to two years as a Flex Tech or Die Setter.
  • Experience with hydraulic and electric horizontal and vertical Injection molding machinery.
  • Experience driving a forklift, and a valid driver's license for means of obtaining a forklift operator license.
  • The ability to be cross-trained and master multiple positions and responsibilities.
  • Familiarity with and ability to use Windows-based computers and software (i.e. Word, Excel, Outlook).
  • The ability to function as part of a team and be able to communicate effectively and professionally both in writing and verbally.
  • The person must have good motor skills and the ability to lift 50 lbs. The role requires standing for up to 8 hours, lifting, turning, twisting, safety gate operation, reaching, pulling, pushing, clutching, and placing, and using hands and fingers.

Flexible Work Schedule
