Description & Requirements

Womble Bond Dickinson (US) LLC is currently seeking a Research Consultant for the Medical & Scientific Solutions Team which will be responsible for conducting high level research on medical and scientific topics, interpreting and analyzing peer-reviewed scientific literature and other publications, and preparing focused work product, including but not limited to topical outlines, literature key quotes, and comprehensive research memoranda.
With supervisory approval, this position may be approved as a remote or hybrid position.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Conducts specific medical and scientific topical research to assist counsel and to address other client needs.
  • Discusses medical history or case issues with case attorney/nurse or other team members.
  • Reviews existing work product and research emails on requested research topics.
  • Assesses the validity and relevance of scientific and medical publications and texts according to the context of research topics.
  • Utilizes other research resources, such as Immunoquery, UpToDate, and publications from authoritative organizations, such as the Surgeon General or International Agency for Research on Cancer, to supplement research needs.
  • Prepares focused analytical documents including topic outlines, literature key quotes, and research memoranda.
  • Monitors newly published literature and updates existing work product as needed.
  • Distributes and transfers requested materials both within the Firm and to external clients. This includes distribution of information in digital and hard-copy formats.
  • Capable of adapting work pace to project deadlines requiring a quick turnaround.
  • Capable of working effectively in a team-driven environment.
  • Shows willingness to be on-call as required, after-hours and on weekends, to support counsel.
  • Demonstrates support for management decisions through conduct, written and verbal communication.

To perform this job successfully, an individual should have a working knowledge of various types of technology such as Microsoft Word, PowerPoint and Excel.


REQUIREMENTS:

A master's degree in a science field is preferred.

A Ph.D. degree is highly desirable.

The incumbent must have a minimum of four

years' experience as a Research Analyst II or

comparable experience and training.

The position requires strong analytic ability and

computer skills, as well as basic knowledge of

essential software. Must have excellent

interpersonal skills and the ability to interact with

attorneys and clients regarding research topics.
