As a Truck Driver at Ryerson, you will be responsiblefor working with the shipping/receiving department to prepare daily local deliveries using our automatic transmission 25ft box truck.

This position is 1st shift. The hours for this position position works Monday- Friday, 6:00 am - 2:30 pm.

* Completes and documents circle checks (pre & post trip) on daily basis

* Reports any defects, deficiencies or repairs regarding the truck/equipment to the Operations Manager

* Reviews shipping documents and organizes daily schedule as per customer needs and geographical locations

* Ensures that all paperwork such as tests reports, packing slips are in order for delivery to the customer

* Ensures that loaded truck can facilitate efficient and safe off loading or re-builds load prior to leaving the facility

* Collects payment for material delivered as required

* Picks up material from locations if required

* Completes and maintains daily log and other paperwork as required

* Maintains good customer relationships

* Occasionally supports the Shipping/Receiving department as a backup

* All other duties as assigned or duties, responsibilities, activities may change at any time with or without notice

• Successfully pass a skills-based assessment - evaluates your reading, math, inspections & measurement, attention to detail, and problem-solving skill
• 1 - 3 years of truck driving experience
• Must pass DOT Physical - Commercial Driver's License (CDL) is not required
• Clean Driver's Abstract; current driver's abstract must be submitted
• Knowledge of truck loading capacities and trucking regulations
• Keen attention to detail and strong safety focus
• Strong understanding of health and safety procedures relevant to the position, in compliance with the provincial regulations and the company's policies
• Knowledge of warehouse machine and equipment operations, e.g. overhead cranes, forklifts
• Strong customer service orientation; effective oral and written communication skills
