Position Highlights |
The Department of Basic Medical Sciences at the University of Arizona College of Medicine - Phoenix is the academic home to a faculty with a diverse research portfolio in basic and translational biomedical sciences.
The Department of Basic Medical Sciences and the College of Medicine - Phoenix is undergoing a significant and strategic expansion in the research enterprise. The department is seeking to recruit new tenure track faculty at the rank of assistant or associate professor to complement and enhance the current cadre of highly innovative, collegial, collaborative, and well-funded group of faculty within the department and college. The research foci of interest will serve to enhance the existing strengths in the department that include neuroscience, metabolic and cardiovascular diseases. Through discovery, education and service, the BMS faculty strive to be leaders in their areas of scholarship. Our blended faculty creates a unique environment to perform cutting-edge, innovative, collaborative and interdisciplinary research aimed at investigating fundamental biological questions and finding solutions to challenges in cancer, metabolic and cardiovascular as well as neurological diseases. Our investigative team also collaborates with clinical researchers to facilitate the development of novel diagnostics, therapies and preventive measures. BMS faculty are also engaged in medical and graduate education by developing, delivering and assessing curricula, and conduct educational scholarship to support the educational mission of the college. The successful candidate will fulfill the responsibilities of a faculty member with extramural funded research, scholarly work, actively participate in teaching, and must qualify for an appointment at the rank of assistant or associate professor. The successful candidate will meet the requirements of a tenure track faculty according to the College and University guidelines.

Duties & Responsibilities |

- Teaching and mentoring in
undergraduate medical education and graduate education - Services in college, university and nationally.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
- Outstanding
interpersonal communication and professionalism skills.

Minimum Qualifications |
- MD, PhD, MD/PhD, or an
equivalent degree. - Track records of extramural research funding,
high impact publications, and teaching.

Preferred Qualifications |
* Innovative and federally-funded research in neuroscience, metabolic and cardiovascular diseases. * Experience and a strong track record in teaching and mentoring. |
