The Supply Chain Operations Director is a leadership position accountable to the senior executive of Supply Chain for the health system and is responsible for leadership of the logistics and distribution functions of the VCUHS and its affiliates. Provides leadership to the system hospitals' supply chain operations departments through the overall planning, direction, and management of the departments, its policies and procedures, and its staff. In addition, this position is responsible for ensuring compliance with internal guidelines and external regulatory entities. Responsible for system supply chain operational functions to include: receiving, internal distribution and delivery, warehousing, inventory and par management/ replenishment, transportation, demand planning, contract implementation and conversions regarding products. The incumbent serves as a key promoter of supply chain, strives to meet and exceed the needs of customers and ensures all supply chain policies and procedures in scope are aligned with VCUHS mission and vision. Level and type of experience REQUIRED:
Minimum seven (7) years of related experience to include
experience working in materials management, supply chain, or similar function in a complex, multi-site enterprise.
3 years progressive experience and demonstrated effectiveness in supply chain management
Minimum 3 years supervisory/team management experience
Broad supply chain management experience
Experience with logistics and distribution, business process standardization, business process engineering and performance improvement strategies.
Experience with Microsoft office with an emphasis in Excel and PowerPoint
Level and type of experience PREFERRED:
Ten (10) years of related experience in healthcare supply chain leadership experience at a multi-hospital IDN to include physician enterprise
Experience in the healthcare industry
Proficient in Microsoft Office MS Access/Project preferred
Demonstrated ability to build strong relationships and interface effectively with all levels of the organization
Project management skills with a demonstrated ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environment
Strong verbal and written communication skills with experience in facilitation/presentation
Workday experience
Experience managing an integrated business plan or sales and operations planning process matching projected demand with supply and the budget required to execute
Experience in workforce management and demonstrated capability in financial management
Education/training REQUIRED:
Bachelor's degree in Business, Process Engineering or related field
Education/training PREFERRED:
Master's degree in Business or related field
Describe Independent actions required :
Complete understanding of materials management operations, as well as hospital and health system policies and procedures.
Comprehensive knowledge and understanding of supply chain and inventory, distribution, logistics, receiving, materials management, human resource management activities, project management activities, and ERP supply chain applications
Knowledge of supply chain analytics including collection, analysis, and interpretation of supply chain data for a wide variety of project types and variety of organizational levels (e.g. corporate, warehouse, and entities).
Supervisory and management skills necessary to direct operations of several departments, providing effective direction to ensure operations are efficient and customer-focused
Analytical thinking, problem solving skills, conflict management and decision-making skills to be able to identify problems, make recommendations and decisions, and implement solutions
Strong process optimization knowledge to increase process efficiency and effectiveness in inventory and logistics management
Demonstrates project leadership skills and the ability to develop effective working relationships with internal and external partners and cross-functional working teams
Ability to work independently and to prioritize work assignments.
Knowledge of change management principles and have a demonstrated record of delivering change.
Additional position requirements such as shift rotations, weekends, environment, etc. :
**** Working Conditions: Works primarily in an office environment; extensive walking may be required for supervision. Travel required to VCUHS affiliates. Attendance is required during disaster, emergencies, and severe weather conditions, including staying for extended hours
