This position will work a hybrid schedule which includes a combination of working both onsite at Sacramento or San Diego areas and remote. Biomedical Informatics is an interdisciplinary field at the intersection of biology, medicine, and quantitative sciences. Biomedical informatics researchers develop new methods to integrate and analyze vast amounts of data generated in the laboratory, clinical and translational research, clinical encounters, and population studies. The goals of the Department of Biomedical Informatics are to (1) promote excellence in biomedical informatics research, (2) collaborate with biomedical researchers in developing new quantitative methods that enable the formulation and testing of original hypotheses, (3) train the next generation of biomedical informatics specialists, and (4) interface with engineering, mathematics, information and computer science communities, serving as a hub for quantitative scientists focused on biomedical research. This department leads multiple state, federally, and non-profit funded biomedical research projects, which are focused on the integration, analysis, and sharing of biomedical and health care data for the scientific community, as well as patient-centered research. In addition, the department runs a complex computational infrastructure that allows access and analysis of these data in a privacy-preserving manner. The Systems & Cloud Administrator is responsible for the administration and management of all applications, systems, and components supporting mission-critical registration and data dissemination functions used by over 5,000 users across California. The incumbent is a highly skilled IT professional responsible for the design, implementation, and management of complex cloud-based systems and infrastructure. This role requires a deep understanding of cloud computing, systems administration, web administration, networking, security, and operations. The incumbent will be responsible for managing and maintaining a cloud infrastructure, ensuring the reliability, security, and scalability of cloud-based systems, with firm control over the usage and costs. Possesses strong technical skills, problem-solving abilities, and the ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams. Will work on projects of small to large size at all levels of complexity. Applies advanced systems infrastructure concepts and campus, medical center or Office of the President or institutional objectives to resolve highly complex issues where analysis of situations or data requires an in-depth evaluation of variable factors. Selects methods, techniques and evaluation criteria to obtain results. Gives presentations to associated team and other technical units. Evaluates new technologies including performing moderate to complex cost / benefit analyses. May lead a team of systems / infrastructure professionals. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Pay Transparency Act Annual Full Pay Range: $104,900 - $198,900 (will be prorated if the appointment percentage is less than 100%) Hourly Equivalent: $50.24 - $95.26 Factors in determining the appropriate compensation for a role include experience, skills, knowledge, abilities, education, licensure and certifications, and other business and organizational needs. The Hiring Pay Scale referenced in the job posting is the budgeted salary or hourly range that the University reasonably expects to pay for this position. The Annual Full Pay Range may be broader than what the University anticipates to pay for this position, based on internal equity, budget, and collective bargaining agreements (when applicable).
