As a Flat Laser Operator at Ryerson, you will be responsible forday-to-day staging, equipment startup and inspections, laser operations and safe machine shutdown. This position is a weekend shift. The hours for this position are Friday to Sunday 6:00am to 6:30pm. This position will be trained on 1st shift Monday through Friday. Roles and Responsibilities Startup Shutdown of laser equipment Set-up of correct cutting parameters and laser operation Maintain equipment to ensure proper working conditions Measure and verify that the parts produced meet print specs Safely operate a forklift to handle materials Document basic material, production and quality control issues Participate in equipment preventative maintenance at the operator level All other duties as assigned or duties, responsibilities, and activities may change at any time with or without notice Requirements Successfully pass a skills-based assessment evaluating reading, math, inspection & measurement, attention to detail, and problem-solving skills 1- 3 years experience laser operator or similar experience preferred Ability to read blueprints preferred Keen attention to detail with strong organizational skills Ability to manage time effectively and independently * Good verbal and written communication skills Team player with a strong, positive attitude Successfully pass a skills-based assessment evaluating reading, math, inspection & measurement, attention to detail, and problem-solving skills Physical ability to pass physical requirements exam for vision, hearing, and mobility Successful candidates will be enrolled in a registered apprenticeship program as part of their onboarding and new hire training We are an Equal Opportunity Employer and do not discriminate against any employee or applicant for employment because of race, color, sex (including gender identity, sexual orientation or preference, and pregnancy), age, national origin, religion, disability or genetic information, marital status, status as a veteran, or any other federal, state or local protected class or artificial barrier
