Job Overview:

The Assistant Category Manager supports the growth and profitability of a specific portfolio of brands within the textile crafts industry. This role ensures achievement of the target category's P&L objectives by contributing to the development and execution of strategic growth plans, go-to-market channel strategies, and innovation pipelines. Collaboration with internal stakeholders is essential to successfully deliver on revenue and profit forecasts, manage category innovations, and enhance competitive positioning. This role requires a passionate, results-driven individual committed to excellence in execution and continuous growth.

Duties and Responsibilities:

Strategic Planning:

  • Assist in establishing a vision for category growth and profitability, including go-to-market and channel strategies.
  • Collaborate with the Product Development (PD) team to prioritize and execute new product pipelines, focusing on incremental sales and defending the core business.


Project Management:

  • Manage and lead cross-functional initiatives for new product launches, ensuring milestones and timelines are met.
  • Conduct post-launch analyses to measure success and guide future strategies.


Sales & Operations Planning:

  • Work with Sales and PD teams to estimate market opportunities, including new product development and promotional planning, and contribute to forecasting processes.


Business Case Development:

  • Support or lead the creation of business cases for strategic innovations and promotional projects, coordinating cross-functional execution.


Market Research & Insights:

  • Provide inputs for product research, including consumer and retail insights, to drive continuous improvement plans.
  • Monitor competitive activity and category trends to inform business strategies and drive timely responses to market opportunities.


Pricing & Product Lifecycle Management:

  • Assist in developing category pricing strategies, including promotional pricing analysis and consumer price elasticity studies.
  • Coordinate product lifecycle management, ensuring best practices in SKU management and alignment with inventory and excess/obsolete targets.

Qualifications:

  • 2-3 years of experience in a related role within the textile industry or similar industry
  • Familiarity with major retailers and experience managing brand P&Ls for brands exceeding $100M in sales
  • Bachelor's degree preferred
  • Strong communication skills
  • Creative and strategic thinker with excellent problem-solving abilities
  • Proficient in project and time management, with the ability to handle multiple projects
  • Independent and entrepreneurial mindset, adaptable to change, with a consumer/customer-focused approach
  • Solid proficiency in Microsoft Office, Excel, and Word
