Position Summary:
The media and events coordinator who will support the Office for Student Involvement and Leadership by helping plan and execute for the Spring 2025 semester and begin plans for the Fall 2025 semester. They will assist with organizing, scheduling, communicating, and programming. Essential Functions:
1. Planning large scale programs/events, call vendors and book spaces in preparation for events
- Homecoming 2025
- Spring Involvement Fair planning
- Office Assistant (OA) | Involvement Consulting
- NJIT LEADS Conference planning
- Highlander Awards planning
- Add creativity and input to annual programs
2. Work on developing new student staff members who will be working with Office for Student Involvement and Leadership
3. Manage guidelines and handbook information for clubs or organizations
4. Social Media
- Marketing for new and returning students
- Brainstorm and implement new ideas trends and school spirited videos to connect students to our office
- Take pictures and videos for students attending events and other programs around campus
- Building rapport with all clubs and organizations and helping them promote their groups around campus
- Featuring clubs and organizations using social media posts and features
- Establishing a new video series to interview students on their perspective and experience at NJIT to attempt to increase school spirit
- Create a social media calendar and create more social media presence on campus
5. Continue to learn and understand process for collaborating with other departments and student organizations on programs/events
6. Work more closely with Fraternity and Sorority Life
7. Promotion and Marketing
- Creating more flyers and designs for university wide events and programs
- Working with various organizations, departments and offices to help with collaborative marketing tools and resources
- Understanding administrative process & projects with Office for Student Involvement and Leadership
- The brainstorming, collaboration, communication and development of a program or event through all the stages
8. Newsletter
- Creating and developing our department newsletter, plus sending out to our student body on a biweekly basis
Prerequisite Qualifications:
- 0-2 years of experience with event planning and social media
- Strong communication and organizational skills
- At the university's discretion, the education and experience prerequisites may be exempted where the candidate can demonstrate to the satisfaction of the university, an equivalent combination of education and experience specifically preparing the candidate for success in the position.
