Primary Purpose of Position
The Business & Technology Applications Technician will work under the supervision of the Business Systems Analyst to create custom reports using the WebFOCUS application. The primary purpose of this position is to assist in the creation, verification and dispersion of both routine and ad hoc reports. The incumbent will be responsible for writing SQL or Webfocus queries of designated databases and creating dynamically visual reports, webpages, or quality dashboards.

The Business & Technology Applications Technician would be expected to identify, analyze, and interpret trends or patterns in complex data sets. This position will also write WebFOCUS code to automate processes and will work with users to document and streamline processes. Incumbent will use tableau or other applications to vizulize streamlined data. The incumbent will also assist in maintaining current or future code written for business services.
Minimum Education/Experience
Required Minimum Qualifications:
Associate's Degree in Computer Programming, or Bachelor's degree with some computer related coursework from an appropriately accredited university; or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Journey level requires an additional six months experience.

University Preferred Qualifications:
The technician band requires basic foundation of knowledge and skills in area of specialization generally obtained from graduating from a technical school or community college with a degree in computer programming or graduation from a four-year college or university with twelve semester hours in programming. Experience in the field of work related to the position's role may be substituted on a year-for-year basis.
Essential Job Duties
Coding/WebFocus Report Writing
-Use WebFOCUS language to design ad hoc/scheduled reports based on user-defined needs.
-Use JavaScript to validate user-entered parameters on forms.
-Design forms based off reporting parameter needs.
-Use visualization tools to display data as requested by users.

SQL
-Write, update, and maintain computer programs or software packages to handle specific jobs such as tracking inventory, storing or retrieving data, or controlling other equipment.
-Develop procedures and scripts for data migration

Data Validation
-Validate code based on user defined expectations

Consulting/Business Analysis/Process Analysis/Documentation
-Create, update, and maintain documentation of code and any custom programming
-Meet with end users/stakeholders to clarify and document business processes
-Review and evaluate business processes for improvement
-Documents newly developed reports

Process Validation
-Verify code according to business and process rules

Code/Process Maintenance
-Daily checks on scheduled jobs for completion and accuracy
