Who we are:

Habitat for Humanity International (HFHI) is a global non-profit whose mission is to ensure everyone has a safe and decent place in which to live. Formed in 1976, HFHI operates in 70 countries around the world, and implements a range of programs that provide direct improvement in housing conditions to households and communities; influence housing policies and market systems; and raise awareness of the critical linkages between housing conditions and broader human development dimensions.
Habitat for Humanity's current international program framework has identified rapid urbanization as a key driver of the global housing deficit. As such, the organization is assessing the extent and diversity of its urban programs and developing guidelines, frameworks, and tools aiming at increasing the scale, appropriateness, and quality of urban programming. The different models of intervention in urban areas across HFHI's global network range from direct work in low-income urban communities and informal settlements, to influencing urban policies, urban and land use planning, and market approaches that enable affordable and adequate urban housing and contribute to sustainable and inclusive urban development.

The Global Foundations, Organizations, and Institutions (GFOI) Team prioritizes fundraising efforts on professional foundations, bi- and multi-lateral institutions - all recognized as partners and donors with significant assets of $100 million+. These institutional partners have high quality designated staff and strategic program priorities with strict guidelines and restrictions on proposal development and grant execution.

The GFOI team is part of the Integrated Programs department, which envisions a interdependent global network that creates deep and lasting impact and demonstrates strong stewardship of HFHI's relationships and funding to eliminate the systemic inequities and meaningfully address the housing deficit. GFOI also works closely with the Resource Development (RD) Department on its focus on strategic fundraising to support Habitat's mission and vision.

What will you build?

As a Global FOI Intern, you will work with the GFOI team, whose primary goal is to raise funds (awards) for housing and development programs from institutions and governments globally (USAID, EU, World Bank, Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, Robert Wood Johnson Foundation, etc.). The Global FOI team members are in the United States, United Kingdom, Slovakia, Thailand, Kenya, and Jordan.

Length of Internship: 1 year
Work Schedule: Monday to Friday
Total Hours: 20 - 24 hours per week
Status (Paid/Unpaid): Paid Internship
Pay: $17.00 per hour (undergraduate student) or $19.00 per hour (graduate student). HFHI offers its paid interns limited benefits, including retirement plan contributions.
Position Reports to: GFOI Project Specialist and Senior Director, International Grant Management
Location: Atlanta, GA

Primary Responsibilities:

In partnership with GFOI Project Specialist and GFOI Snr Director Grant Management,

• 40% time supporting GFOI Project Specialist on CRM (constituent relationship management) system and internal pipeline monitoring to ensure tracking of relevant funding opportunities and prepositioning engagements, and 40% time supporting GFOI Snr Director International Grant Management, to coordinate meetings, training sessions and workshops, track and analyze key international grants team data (linked to overall systems), and assist with administrative duties.
• Working alongside global fellow interns to research FOI donors and peers to advance fundraising goals
• Forecasting aligned funding opportunities to scope out potential grants and proposals for the network to pursue
• Gathering donor intel to understand and inform the network on partner trends, themes, and developments
• Ad hoc projects and tasks as needed from the team

Minimum Qualifications:

• Current undergraduate or graduate student
• Ability to conduct research
• A strong interest in organized processes and systems
• Interest in topics of international development and housing, bi-lateral and multi-lateral institutions, grants and funding
• Openness to learn and ability to work on multiple tasks
