Position Highlights |
The University of Arizona Cancer Center (UACC) seeks an Accounting Assistant II to support the finance team. Our finance team consists of 5 team members of different accounting levels which creates a great opportunity for learning and educating one for continuous growth within the Cancer Center. The Finance team cultivate a collaborative work environment by fostering open communication and providing ongoing training opportunities for accounting team members. The successful candidate in this position will be responsible for performing a variety of accounting assignments, such as reviewing/creating purchase orders, expense/travel reimbursements, reconciling purchasing card purchases, deposits, and other related accounting transactions. The candidate will also be responsible for assisting with the preparation of the monthly account reports. The successful candidate will consistently demonstrate flexibility, organization, initiative, and a strong work ethic. This is an excellent opportunity to learn UA business office processes and join our team in a fun, fast-paced work environment. This position may be eligible to work remotely 1-2 days per week in conversation with the supervisor, after an initial 3-6 month training period. Duties & Responsibilities |
General Accounting:
- Reconcile accounts and prepare monthly reports. Assist with investigating irregularities as appropriate.
- Reconcile department PCard transactions in compliance with university policy and procedures.
- Initiate interdepartmental billing documents for shared resources.
- Coordinate travel expense reimbursement and authorizations.
- Process accounting transactions related to funding distributions, salary expense transfer, disbursement vouchers, general error corrections, and other journal entries.
Administrative Grant Support:
- Assist with grant monitoring and contract account renewals or continuations. Follow up with Sponsor and Purchasing on required tasks and documentation.
- Assist with subawards transactions and grant account close-out. Follow up with various parties to properly complete transactions.
Operations Support:
- Assist with daily listservs and distribute to responsible units.
- Assist with the annual All Funds Budget, UA Budget Rollover, and Year End processes.
- Coordinate and allocate vendor payments.
- Other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications |
- High school diploma or high school diploma equivalency is required.
- Minimum of 3 years of relevant experience, or equivalent combination of education and work experience.

Preferred Qualifications |
- Experience with UA systems such as UAccess Financials and UAccess Analytics.
- Experience in fund accounting in higher education.
