Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Implement, interpret, and apply technical specifications, construction drawings, and work plans;
- Lead project construction meetings, providing updates on construction activities, identify potential construction problems and delays, and contractor schedules;
- Review, respond and process contractor submittals;
- Prepare and effectively manage and convey change orders (CO), field orders (FO), and value engineering (VE) proposals delegated under client authority.
- Prepare detailed responses to contractor requests for information (RFIs), and requests for clarification (RFCs) to the contract documents in a timely manner;
- Maintain time and production records, analyze construction schedules and critical path management (CPM), and monitor construction progress with respect to scheduling and CPM tasks;
- Effectively communicate proposed design modifications to the Engineer-of-Record in a timely and professional manner;
- Review, track, and process contractor pay requests and cost loaded schedules on a timely basis;
- Prepare reports, work plans, health and safety documents;
- Prepare progress meeting agendas and meeting minutes in an orderly and timely manner;
- Review and edit field documentation including proposed corrective actions to address substandard or non-compliant workmanship or materials;
- Develop and prepare sampling plans, testing schedules, and detailed test data summaries;
- Review field and laboratory test results for accuracy and compliance with the project specifications;
- Assist with the verification of project completion milestones and contract closeout/commissioning;
- Establish, organize, and maintain field offices to ensure accurate, secure, and well-organized project records;
- Identify project staffing requirements and prepare and maintain on-site personnel schedules to meet project deadlines;
- Interact with project personnel including, contractors, project managers, engineers, and clients to cultivate an integrated team approach through open lines of communication and participation in work progress meetings; and
- Implement and abide by the policies and procedures outlined in the site-specific project health and safety plans (HASP) and the company's Health and Safety policies and procedures.
Skills, Experience and Qualifications
- High School Diploma and 11 years (15+ preferred) of relevant heavy civil construction management experience, an associate degree or a college diploma and a minimum 9 years of applicable experience, or a bachelor's degree in construction science, construction management, engineering, physical science, environmental science, or related subjects and a minimum of 7 years of applicable experience or equivalent combination of education, experience and training that provides the required knowledge, ability and construction management skills. - Prior experience managing large multi-task construction projects and/or the construction management oversite of such projects;
- Leading teams including junior engineers, technicians, inspectors, project administrators, etc. (required)
- Experience and proficiency with Microsoft Windows based software applications (e.g., Word, Excel, Outlook, Access, PowerPoint etc.) and construction management documentation platforms such as Trimble e-Builder. (required)
- Technical proficiency in site civil engineering (grading, road and bridge construction, utility installation, surveying, permitting, construction quality control/assurance, and/or construction management procedures for heavy civil engineering, and earthworks projects. (required)
- Health & Safety training, medical monitoring, and client-driven drug and background testing. (required)
- State of Florida Professional registration (i.e., PE, PG or GC). (required)
- Valid U.S. driver's license, satisfactory driving record, and reliable transportation, for business travel. (required)
