Position Summary

At Stony Brook Medicine (SBM), the Senior Systems Administrator will assist with the overall cyber resiliency and patching maintenance of production infrastructure. The Sr. Systems Administrator will assist in the management and troubleshooting of servers, Citrix applications, VMWare, Active Directory and Backups. The qualified candidates will possess outstanding communication skills while adhering to our high standard of excellence. They will be a team player with the ability to work independently. Multitasking skills are a must, the candidate much possess strong analytical skills as well.

Duties of a Senior Systems Administrator may include the following but are not limited to:




  • Administrator of SBMIT's VMWare environment consisting of 40 Hosts and 1500 virtual servers.
  • Keep VM Tools and VM Hardware up to date on all virtual machines. Ensure all templates are patched and maintained.
  • Automate patching for all Operating Systems and build documentation and workflows for manual patching exceptions.
  • Keep all Hosts on a Patching and proper upgrade cycle, inclusive of physical firmware patching to ensure continued cyber resiliency.
  • Troubleshoot all VMWare related issues and implement proactive monitoring for all VM Hosts and Virtual Servers.
  • Assist with migrations from VMWare to Azure Stack HCI and Azure Cloud.
  • Administrator of SBMIT's Citrix environment consisting of 30 application servers.
  • Design, document and configure available and acquired compute and storage resources for SBMIT's expanding Citrix and server environment.
  • Provide continued support and preservation of both DHCP and DNS.
  • Assist in the management of the organizations primary NetScaler's and Load Balancers
  • Assist with domain migrations and infrastructure consolidation efforts.



Qualifications

Required Qualifications:




  • Bachelor's degree and 3-4 years of IT experience. In lieu of a Bachelor's degree, a combination of higher education and relevant experience with infrastructure, server patching and Virtualization technologies totaling 8 years.
  • 2 + years' experience troubleshooting Virtualization issues and deployment of new servers.
  • 2 + years' experience in patching administration.
  • 2+ years' experience in server operating systems support.
  • Excellent customer service skills.
  • Excellent analytical skills are essential for this job.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills and the ability to work well in a team environment are essential.



Preferred Qualifications:




  • 2+ years' experience of Citrix Administration.
  • 2+ years' experience of DNS/DHCP Support.
  • 2+ years' experience of Domain Migrations.
  • Experience supporting a complex technical environment within the healthcare industry with increasing levels of responsibility.

  • Meet Regulatory Requirements for pre-employment screenings.
  • Provide a copy of any required New York State license(s)/certificate(s).

Anticipated Pay Range:

The starting salary range (or hiring range) for this position is - $87872 - $118262 / year.

The above salary range represents SBUH's good faith and reasonable estimate of the range of possible compensation at the time of posting. The specific salary offer will be based on the candidate's validated years of comparable experience. Any efforts to inflate or misrepresent experience are grounds for disqualification from the application process or termination of employment if hired.

Some positions offer annual supplemental pay such as:

* Location pay for UUP, CSEA & PEF full-time positions ($3400)
