Qualifications
Education, Experience and Skills Required:
- Bachelor's Degree in Information Systems, Computer Science or related field, or equivalent experience.
- At least five (5) years of experience in the following areas:
- VPN Tunnel Protocols (SSL, IPSEC, DMVPN, ADVPN).
- Routing Protocols (BGP, OSPF).
- Router, switch, AP, and firewall administration.
- Network operating systems like (Junos, Cisco, Dell, Fortinet).
- Packet capturing applications.
- Physical datacenter infrastructure
- United States citizenship required.
- Ability to receive client's approval to work on contract required.
- Must live in the US 3 of the last 5 years (military and study abroad included).
- Network/Security certifications preferred.
- Advanced knowledge of layer 2 and 3 networking.
- Advanced knowledge of DNS systems and the ability to manage both external and internal DNS.
- Strong knowledge of UNIX/Linux OS within an enterprise environment.
- Strong knowledge of Windows server OS within an enterprise environment.
- Advanced knowledge of networking systems and heterogeneous routing hardware.
- Advanced knowledge of TCP/IP, security, and client server technologies.
- Working knowledge of Log monitoring and SIEM appliances.
- Ability to communicate technical issues to all levels of management and diverse internal and external contacts at all levels in comprehensible terms.
- Ability to share knowledge and experience and to provide helpful advice to other team members.
- Observational skills to validate data obtained via log files and network scanning.
- Ability to quickly diagnose and resolve complex hardware and software conflicts and issues in a 24x7 uptime environment.
- Ability to provide detailed and summary documentation for various purposes and audiences.
- Ability to travel to field offices and colocations across the U.S. to support the infrastructure, both in Colorado and in other states.
- Ability to work with computers and the necessary software typically used by the department.
Working Conditions: Encountered on a regular basis as part of the work this job performs.
- Requires some work in an environmentally controlled rooms with cold temperatures and moderate noise.
- Provides on-call server support after standard business hours 24 x 7 on a rotating basis.
- Required to respond timely for all network or security issues on a 24 x 7 basis.
- Ability to use hands to finger, handle or feel, to reach with hands and arms, and to stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl to install and maintain computer networking equipment.
- Ability to lift up to 100 pounds to move servers in and out of computer racks.
Responsibilities
Summary Analyzes, designs, installs, configures, maintains, evaluates, and repairs the network infrastructure and application components to ensure network performance meets Company and end user requirements. Primary Duties and Responsibilities
- Oversees and ensures the day-to-day security and operation of data networks consisting of routers, switches, firewalls, wireless infrastructure, software applications, servers, etc.
- Designs, configures, monitors, and optimizes system hardware for optimal uptime and reliability.
- Performs trend analysis of network system performance on a regular basis and recommends configuration performance optimization changes.
- Provides expert technical level network consulting advice and problem resolution for the development-operations team.
- Maintains database reports on performance statistics, user issues, projects, network design and configuration, and inventory of available systems.
- Provides high-level technical support to resolve internal and external network system issues following established change management and incident management process.
- Manages and maintains the Company WAN and LAN, including assistance to the Telecom team as needed.
- Maintains and updates network, application, and system documentation for management, development and IT staff.
- Participates in the Company Change Control process for proposed configuration changes, by reviewing existing and proposed configurations, and performing risk analysis to determine the overall impact of the change on the enterprise network.
- Monitors industry trends and developments in network and security technologies.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
