The Computer Science Department (CSD) is one of the seven academic departments in the Carnegie Mellon School of Computer Science (SCS). Our environment is demanding and fast-paced, but it's also innovative, flexible and highly collaborative. Computer Science at Carnegie Mellon is also distinctive for our research style, educational programs, commitment to diversity, culture and organizational structure.

We are seeking a Research Assistant to join our team. This Research Assistant will work on the SteelEagle project, research pertaining to edge computing for drone autonomy.

Core Responsibilities
  • Follows research plans, collect, record, and manipulate research data. Maintains accurate and detailed research records and files.
  • Works with project PI to collect, record and assess research data.
  • May write and test code according to project specifications.
  • Assesses data and analyzes results.
  • May test software prototypes.
  • May interact with research subjects to perform job functions.
  • Performs basic data analysis to product reports. Documents results and processes.
  • Performs library research and field explorations.

Qualifications
  • Bachelor's Degree
  • Experience with research protocols and data collection
  • Experience in maintaining research records, data and files
  • Flexibility and patience to perform research
  • A combination of education and proven experience from which comparable knowledge is demonstrated may be considered
