Director, Enterprise Data Architecture

Job Summary

Strategic leader responsible for overseeing and managing Equinix's data architecture initiatives. Critical role in designing and implementing a robust data architecture framework that supports Equinix's data management and analytics objectives. Leads a team of data architects, collaborating with cross-functional teams to design and structure Equinix's data assets, managing how they are organized, integrated and accessed. This leader works closely with business leaders, IT teams, and stakeholders to understand their data requirements and translate them into effective data architecture solutions.

Responsibilities


  • Strategy: Develop and execute a comprehensive modern data architecture strategy aligned with Equinix's goals and objectives

  • Governance: Partner with Data Governance to stablish enterprise data architecture policy, standards, and procedures for approval of changes to and continuous audit of deployed data architecture, ensuring alignment with business needs using best architectural principles

  • Data Modeling and Design: Define and implement data modeling and design principles, ensuring data structures are optimized for performance, scalability, and data integrity

  • Data Integration and Interoperability: Partner with business, application and technology owners to establish data integration standards and practices to deliver seamless data flow and interoperability across systems and applications

  • Warehousing: Partner with the warehouse leader, ensuring data lake house architecture is optimized to meet user requirements availability, discovery and access to data for analytics

  • Technology: Evaluate and select, deploy and use modern data architecture and modeling technologies that align with the Equinix's data strategy & technology stack

  • Stakeholder Management: Collaborate with business leaders, IT teams, and other stakeholders to understand their data requirements and align data architecture solutions accordingly

  • Data Security and Privacy: Work closely with the information security and legal teams to ensure data security and privacy measures are integrated into the data architecture framework

  • Industry Best Practices: Stay updated with emerging trends, technologies, and best practices in data architecture, attending conferences, participating in forums, and networking with industry experts

  • Drive the people development strategy, including enhancement of capabilities

  • Provide leadership and guidance for escalations to other strategy and insights / cross-functional stakeholders

  • Challenge existing managed processes based on industry best practice and trends to ensure Equinix is maintaining a best-in-class approach

Qualifications


  • Bachelor's degree in a relevant field such as computer science, information systems, or data management

  • 10+ years of related work experience, preferably in large-scale enterprise cloud-based environments with 4+ years of progressive leadership experience

  • Strong understanding of data architecture principles, data modeling techniques, and data integration patterns

  • Experience with Google GCP products (Inc. BigQuery), Exasol, Dell Boomi, and modern CRM, CPQ, ERP platforms like Salesforce, Oracle, ServiceNow

  • Strong understanding of principles and practices such as 'data as a product', Data as a Service, Data Mesh, Data Fabric, Data Virtualization and applying them to data architecture solutions

  • Familiarity with SQL, Python, and Java

  • Excellent leadership & people management skills, with the ability to inspire & motivate a team of data architects and data modelers

  • Experience with working with data governance frameworks, data security, and privacy regulations is preferred
