Position Summary:

The Early Learning Site Supervisor will be responsible for directly overseeing the daily operations of the Early Learning Center by ensuring adherence to all policies and procedures, staffing supervision, and licensing requirements. A high level of attention will need to be had by Site Supervisor in order to ensure the Center meets all minimum licensing standards for a Licensed Child Care Center in Washington, Early Achievers requirements to attain and maintain a standard of excellence an implement Early Learning best practices.

Responsibilities:

Develop appropriate staffing and professional development for the Center



  • Interview and recommend for hire lead teachers, classroom assistants, substitutes, and food services staff who meet and exceed state licensing standards
  • Provide comprehensive orientation for all new staff and volunteers according to licensing regulations and ECEAP performance standards
  • Ensure all staff obtains the required professional development hours required and develop an individualized professional development plan for each employee
  • Establish staffing schedules for each classroom and ensure substitutes are arranged as needed in cooperation with lead teacher
  • Approve time off requests and timecards for payroll


Supervise Lead Teachers, Teacher Assistants, Teaching Support Specialists and other designated position



  • Provide ongoing supervision to lead teachers and teacher assistants and other designated staff.
  • Complete introductory and annual evaluations for designated staff


Provide orientation and communication to parents



  • Provide on-site tours and orientation to new parents
  • Communicate with parents via newsletters, parent-teacher conferences, and other venues
  • Accept calls inquiring about the Center and services offered.


Work closely with the Early Learning Program Manager to ensure compliance with center operations and policies:



  • Maintain Center policies, personnel records, health policies, according to licensing regulations and ECEAP/Early ECEAP performance standards
  • Oversee the Centers childcare waiting lists and maintain classroom enrollment at maximum capacity
  • Ensure the Center facilitates are in good repair and arrange for maintenance
  • Maintain communication with the Facilities Manager and Program Manager to keep the Center well maintained.
  • Work with the Program Manager - Childcare and ECEAP Services to develop corrective action plans for licensing deficiencies.

Qualifications

Job Requirements:

Physical Requirements:

This position normally requires the physical demands of standing, walking, bending, lifting or performing other work requiring medium physical exertion, talking and hearing and adequate vision on a regular basis to perform the job requirements. These physical demands are required up to 80% of the time. It may be necessary, on occasion, to lift and/or move a child.

Non-Physical Requirements:

Education



  • B.A. in Early Childhood Education required, Masters preferred


Experience



  • Five years childcare experience with young children in an Early Learning setting
  • Three years of administrative and supervisory experience as a Center Director or similar environment
  • Experience with ECEAP or Head Start preferred.


Special Skills



  • Demonstrate knowledge of child development to implement a program that is developmentally appropriate for the ages of the children served
  • Demonstrated knowledge of and implementation for Early Achievers requirements
  • Ability to maintain positive relationships with staff, children, parents and the community
  • Knowledge of research and current developments in early childhood education
  • Ability to successfully manage the operation and budgeting of an early learning childcare center
  • Knowledge of WAC for childcare centers
  • Demonstrated knowledge of ECEAP and Early ECEAP performance standards.


Licensure, Registration, Certification



  • Valid Washington State driver's license and minimum required liability insurance for WA State
