Job Summary

The Assistant Dean of Enrollment and Student Services within the College of Education plays a pivotal role in fostering a supportive and inclusive learning environment for students pursuing their educational goals, while also leading efforts to enhance enrollment and student recruitment initiatives within the college.

Job Description

Typical duties may include but are not limited to:

  • Assists the Dean in planning and implementation of college initiatives.
  • Assists the Dean in planning and preparation administrative priorities for the college.
  • Performs related duties required for the administration and management of the academic program(s) as required or assigned by the Dean.
  • Coordinates as needed with curriculum development, changes, and initiatives.
  • Assists the Dean with developing, revising, and implementing department policies and procedures.
  • Lead enrollment management efforts within the College of Education, including developing and executing recruitment strategies.
  • Oversee academic advising efforts in collaboration with University Advising Services including mentorship programs within the College of Education, ensuring students receive guidance and support in aligning their academic goals with their career aspirations.
  • Oversee the management of all clinical placements and Internships in the College of Education including the execution of MOUs, implementation of required training for supervisors, and coordination of preservice educators.
  • Collect and analyze data related to student success metrics and enrollment trends and utilize findings to inform decision-making and enhance student support, enrollment initiatives and accreditation including CAEP, SACSCOC, and FLDOE reporting.
  • Develop, implement, and oversee comprehensive student support services aimed at assisting students in navigating academic, personal, and professional challenges.
  • Collaborate with faculty, University Advising Services and other campus partners to develop and implement retention initiatives that enhance student persistence and graduation rates.
  • Collaborate with the Florida Department of Education, COE students, faculty and staff in the oversight and management of licensing requirements and certification for the state of Florida.
  • Collaborate with campus and community stakeholders, including school districts and other partners, to coordinate efforts in supporting student success and enrollment management.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Additional Job Description

Required Qualifications:

  • Doctorate (Ed.D., Ph.D.) in education, higher education, administration, counseling, student affairs, or closely related field.
  • Previous experience in education, student affairs, academic advising, enrollment management, clinical field supervision or related field.
  • Demonstrated experience with student development/human development, retention strategies, enrollment management techniques, teaching and learning, and best practices in student support including clinical or practicum work.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to work across functions at a senior level to influence and effect change to achieve common goals.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills and ability to deliver presentations to individuals and groups.
  • Ability to think critically and creatively, have a high standard of integrity, and be motivated to incorporate best practices into the organizational structure.
  • Ability to exercise a high degree of independent judgment in the establishment, interpretation, application, and enforcement of all rules, regulations, and policies.
  • Ability to interact in a professional manner with a diverse group of staff, faculty, students, and the community in a service-oriented environment.
  • Ability to effectively manage the work of others by providing guidance and motivation while establishing goals and expectations of accountability.
  • Ability to thrive in an organization that values the diversity of its student body and workforce and actively promotes an equitable environment.
  • Ability to work occasional evenings, nights, and weekends.
  • Ability to analyze data, assess program effectiveness, and make data-driven decisions to enhance student support and enrollment initiatives.

Appointment will be made at an out-of-unit faculty rank commensurate with the candidate's experience on a 12-month out-of-unit multi-year appointment basis beginning as early as in July 2025.
